World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame wrestler Tamara “Sunny” Sytch was arrested and charged with drunk driving in New Jersey on Feb. 23. It is the sixth time she has been accused of DUI or DWI in four years.

According the Seaside Heights Police Department, officers observed Sytch, age 46, run a stop sign and attempt to drive down a one-way street in Seaside Heights around 6:30 p.m. When the officers executed a traffic stop, they allegedly saw an open container of alcohol in her vehicle and noticed that she was acting intoxicated. They also discovered that she was driving on a suspended license and had outstanding traffic warrants from Holmdel and Knowlton.

Sytch, who wrestled in the 1990s and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011, was taken into custody and issued summonses for multiple violations. The violations included consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, having an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, driving recklessly, failing to stop for a stop sign, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and driving with a suspended license. Following her arrest, she was handed over to Holmdel authorities for the outstanding warrants. She is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institute. According to media reports, Sytch was arrested for drunk driving in Pennsylvania three times in 2015. She was also arrested for DUI in New Jersey twice in 2018.

If convicted, drunk driving defendants can face harsh consequences, including jail time, expensive fines and the loss of driving privileges. This is particularly true for repeat offenders. However, a DUI/DWI defense attorney may be able to represent a defendant in court and do everything possible to get the charges reduced or dismissed.
